Ashura procession taken out from Nishter Park

The main procession of the Youm-e-Ashur, the 10th of Muharram in the city emerged from Nishter Park amid strict security arrangments on Tuesday. Earlier, Maulana Syed Shehenshah Hussain Naqvi while addressing a majlis shed light on the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A), and his companions at Kerbala.
The procession would pass through its traditional route of Nishter Park, Sir Shah Nawaz Bhutto Road, Mehfil-e-Shah-e-Khurasan, M.A.Jinnah Road, Mansfield Street, Preedy Street, again M.A.Jinnah Road, Boulton Market, Bombay Bazar, Kharadar and Nawab Mahabat Khanjee Road and would end at Husainina Iranian Imambargah, Kharadar.
The mourner participanting in the main Ashura procession offered their Nimaz-e-Zuhrain at Tibet Centre.
Extra-ordinary security steps have been adopted by the law enforcement agencies on the entire route of the procession and all those roads, streets and lanes which are leading to M.A.Jinnah Road were completely sealed for all kind of traffic and pedestrians.
Only mourners were being allowed to enter the procession and majalis after thorough checking and scanning by the walk-through gates.
Security passes for mediamen and special stickers for the vehicles were also issued to allow them for coverage of the occasion.
The main procession is being led by the scouts of various groups while team of Bomb Diposal squads are also moving at the head and tail of the procession.
The helicopter surveillance was also carried out on the route of main procession.
All markets, colleges, schools, universities and public and private sector offices remained close being public holiday on account of Ashura-e-Muharram.
It may be mentioned here that the Youm-e-Ashur is observed on Muharram 10th every year with religious sanctity throughout the country to pay tribute to Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions for the supreme sacrifices in Kerbala.
