ISLAMABAD: In an attempt to increase the contingency stock of National Disaster Management Authority(NDMA),the United States Agency for International Development(USAID)will provide858 tents today(Wednesday).
USAID’s tents handover ceremony will be held here in which USAID Deputy Mission Director Karen Freeman will hand over the tents to a NDMA official.
USAID will provide 858 tents to NDMA to increase NDMA’s contingency stock to be used for immediate deployment in the event of a disaster.
According to the representative of USAID, these tents are provided as part of a $5.8 million USAID-funded NDMA Support Project that starting from August 2010 has been helping NDMA devise its relief and early recovery response to the 2010 and 2011 floods. This handover will mark the end of this project where USAID, through IOM, provided crucial support to NDMA’s operations.
