Pakistan Participates in Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Trade Fair in Berlin

BERLIN: World’s largest 3-day Trade Fair of fresh fruits and vegetables, Fruit Logistica 2012 ended here today on a positive note as the Pakistani exhibitors expressed their satisfaction over business contacts that they established for Pakistani products.

German State Secretary for Foods, Agriculture, and Consumer Protection Dr. Gerd Mueller also visited Pakistan Pavilion and talked to Pakistani exhibitors about their products and marketing strategy to introduce them in the European Market. He was received by the charge’ d Affairs of Pakistan Embassy in Berlin, Mazhar Javed along with the commercial Counsellor Mr. Vaqar Khilji, the Pakistani embassy said.

He was briefed about the quality and nutrition value of the Pakistani Agri-products. He was informed that Pakistan had been participating in this annual event for the last 10 years and growth in Pakistani products export had significantly been increased over the years.

With the introduction of latest technologies in the fruit and vegetable processing field, the export is expected to grow significantly in the future as it would increase shelf life of the products as well introduce value-added products of Pakistan fruits, Mr. Khilji stated.

Around 2537 exhibitors from 84 countries showcased complete range of products and services for all stages of production and trade of fresh fruit and vegetables. More than 56,000 traders and decision makers of Agri-sector visited the Fair besides a large number of end consumers.
