Normalization of Pak-India ties to be mutually beneficial for both people: PM

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Wednesday said that normalization of relations between Pakistan and India would be mutually beneficial for the people of both countries.The Prime Minister was talking to Indian Commerce Minister Anand Sharma, who called on him at the Prime Minister House. The Prime Minister said that the Cabinet had mandated the Ministry of Commerce to normalize trade relations with India.He said the road-map of trade normalization as agreed in the meetings of the Commerce Secretaries in New Delhi last November would be implemented as per the agreement.


The Prime Minister recalled his meetings with the Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh who, he said, is a sincere leader and who really wanted good relations between the two countries as well as resolution of all outstanding issues.
Indian Commerce Minister Anand Sharma highly appreciated the warmth and the hospitality extended to the Indian delegation by the business community of Pakistan.
He said that there was a lot of scope in trade between Pakistan and India and he witnessed the real enthusiasm in Pakistan to promote economic relations between the two countries.
Indian High Commissioner along with other officials of the Indian Embassy were present on the occasion.
Minister for Commerce Makhdoom Amin Faheem, Secretary Commerce, Pakistan’s High Commissioner to India and senior officials of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Commerce were also present in the meeting. (APP)
