Kashmir Council EU demands for transfer of Maqbool Butt’s mortal remains

BRUSSELS - Kashmir Council EU has demanded the Indian government to hand over the mortal remains of martyred great Kashmiri leader, Muhammad Maqbool Butt, for proper burial in Mazar-e-Shuhada Srinagar. Maqbool Butt was hanged in New Delhi’s Tihar jail on February 11, 1984,for his contribution to the Kashmir liberation movement and was buried inthe jail premises.In a statement issued in Brussels on the occasion of Martyrdom anniversary of Maqbool Butt, the Council Chairman Ali Raza Syed paid rich tributes to the martyred leader. “Maqbool Butt is one of the principle and profound leaders of freedom movement and his contribution towards the freedom truggle is remarkable and unforgettable,” he added.
Ali Raza Syed also demanded whereabouts of the Kashmiris disappeared in custody of Indian police and troops.
He said that people in Indian Held Kashmir (IHK) are suffering for last six decades as they are living under seige in the presence of more than 700,000 Indian occupation forces. Ali Raza Syed siad, thousands of the people in IHK are disappeared and their relatives believe they were killed in the custody as a arge number of the unnamed graves have been discovered during the recent years.
The troops were killing innocent Kashmiris to suppress their just struggle for right of self determination.
Chairman Kashmir Council EU appealed to the international community to stop atrocities against the innocent Kashmiris and facilitate for just solution of the Kashmir problem according to the wishes of Kashmiris.
Chairman Council pledged that Kashmir Council EU would continue its support to the people of Kashmir. While based in Europe, we are committed to uphold the Kashmir issue at different forums, he added. (APP)
