DHAKA: Dhaka Gladiators piled up a huge total of 208 for five with a rain of sixes in 20 overs in their Bangladesh Premeir League day-night match against Barisal Burners here at the Shere Bangla National Stadium on Tuesday.
After captain Mashrafe Mortaza won the toss and elected to bat in the tenth match of the tournament, the Gladiators batsmen hit a number of sixes to entertain the crowd.
In all, 14 sixes were hit in 20 overs as opener Imran Nazir, from Pakistan, hammered five sixes in his 58 made off 35 balls, Kieron Pollard smashed five sixes in 36 from 15 balls and Azhar Mahmood, also from Pakistan, hit three sixes in an unbeaten 77 off 47 balls. Darren Stevens also hit a six.
For the Burners, Yasir Arafat and Kabir Ali claimed two wickets each.
