The Yaum-e-Ashur (10th of Muharram) was observed with religious fervour here on Tuesday to commemorate the supreme sacrifices rendered by Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions in Karbala. The main zuljinah procession which was taken out from Nisar haveli on Monday night after passing through its traditional route culminated at Karbala Gamay Shah, outside Bhatti gate after Maghrib prayers.
A police posse was escorting the main zuljinah procession from rear and front throughout its route. The CCTV cameras at various points alongside the procession routes were installed while metal detectors and walk through gates were also used to scan the mourners.
Individuals and social welfare organisations set up sabeels along the procession route and they also distributed ‘Niaz’ (free food) among people.
Scouts and health officials were accompanying the processions to meet any eventuality.
The second biggest procession was taken out from Pando Street, Krishan Nagar (Islampura) attended by hundreds of mourners. Dozens of small and large processions were also taken out from different parts of the city by mourners who were beating their chests to express their grief over the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA).
The Imambargahs’ management also deputed their own security men to assist the policemen to spot the unknown persons, and parking lots for all the Majalis and Muharram processions were set up at a safer distance.
Majalis-e-Aza also were held in various Imambargahs where ulema and zakirs highlighted the Karbala tragedy and the supremacy of Islam after sacrifices of Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A) and his 72 companions.
Majalis-e-Sha’am-e-Ghariban were also held after Maghribain prayers in different Imambargahs including Karbala Gamay Shah, Idara Minhajul Hussain, Imam Bargah Qasr-e-Zainab and other places.
The Ulema and Zakreen threw light on the brilliant aspects of sacrifice rendered by Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions in Karbala.
